Christmas Card Wall Art by Silo Hill Farm

Today I have a special treat for all of my visitors! Danni is sharing an awesome Christmas project with all of us! Do you know Danni already? If you don't, you're going to love her!

Meet Danni:

Season's greetings to all of you Pondered Primed Perfected readers! I'm Danni from Silo Hill Farm and it is my privilege to be posting for my very good friend Sherry here today!

I'm delighted to share this cute, easy and inexpensive framed vintage photo project with you.

The whole project came in at less than $2.00! Gotta love that, right?
Here's how I did it. The supplies are.........

Hinged double photo frame (Dollar Tree...guess how much? Yep $1!) Photo mat (Dollar Tree....4/$1.00....that makes it 25 cents!) Black and white photo from a Christmas card (free). You can find a lot of very cool vintage Christmas photos for free at The Graphics Fairy though.
You can ignore the little package of gems, because in the end, I felt like I didn't need to use them.
Let me give you a close up of that Christmas card print because it's absolutely adorable, which is why I saved it for several years!

I put the oval mat over the photo and slipped it into the large half of the frame.

I wanted to put some cute saying or something in the small frame. I made this on PicMonkey. (I love PicMonkey!)

It just seemed appropriate for the picture. I printed it out, trimmed it to fit and put it in the small side of the frame. It was at this point I decided not to add the little gems. It somehow took away from the vintage feel of it.

It may be my favorite Christmas project this year. Easy and inexpensive, yet simple and precious. Come to think of it....that's just how I like my Christmas to be! I hope yours is the way you want it to be as well!

Go-To Holiday Recipes by Sweet Little Bluebird

Flying Dove and more DIY Glass Ball Ornaments

Ahhhh, the weekend must come to an end.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I know I did.

I stayed up way too late. Oops!

Ate way too much food. Oops!

Drank a little wine. Yeah!

Enjoyed a dip in the hot tub. Yeah!

Finished most of my Christmas shopping. Yeah!

Put our Christmas tree up and decorated. Yeah!

Went for a refreshing walk with a friend (to burn off all of the over-indulgences.) Yeah!

AND...I finally made something with these clear glass ornaments I bought LAST YEAR! Hip Hip Hooray!

This was simple to do and so much fun. It's rewarding to make something unique like these. I'm sure there are others similar out there but these little "sculptures" are my creations! So Cool!!!

THE STEPS I TOOK:

I Sculpted a little white dove out of Crayola Model Magic. (It's a soft, squishy modeling material that dries within 24 hours. Even when it's dry it's a bit pliable...kind of like rubber or those foam pieces used in crafts.) You could use another type of clay or dough here but I already had Model Magic for my preschoolers.
I sprayed the dove sculpture with Elmer's spray adhesive and sprinkled with fine white glitter. Let dry.
I tied a piece of mono filament to the dove and put it inside the glass orb. I had to fold the wings in to get them inside and once I had the dove in I used a skewer to spread them out again.
I added fake snow that I got from the craft store.
I replaced the cap using it to hold the mono filament in place so it appears the dove is flying.

I put a dot of E-6000 on the bottom of the ones that don't hang ~ to hold them in place.

This little guy is the Polar Bear I sculpted. He's waiting to get glued to the bottom and surrounded by snow.

For this one I sculpted the word JOY and glittered it up a bit with light green glitter.

Then I hung it with mono filament and added snow.

Here's the dove ornament hanging from a branch...it looks like it's just taking flight!

My green lights would not light up. :(

I got tired of waiting so I sprayed the tree with a bit of fake snow and added white lights instead. :)

Then I got out my tripod and tried to get all artsy with my camera.

I think I better go read Beth's post over at Unskinny Boppy on How To Take Glowing Pics of the Christmas Tree. She has some tips for making these types of pictures turn out really beautiful.

Mine just looks like our Christmas tree caught fire...Ha ha ha!

Cabinet Door Makeovers at P3

As I was creating an updated Project Gallery, I noticed how many cabinet door makeovers I've finished. I thought I would pull them all together here in one post and let you take a look. I have some ideas for a few more...I'll add them when they are done.

My Handyman scored a stack of these unfinished doors at a cabinet shop that was shutting it's doors for good. We got these doors for about 30 cents a piece. Great price for a DIY project, if you ask me!
